About

POLYTOUGH™ CONSTRUCTION

The Philosophy

Over the years, we’ve gained a reputation in the fire service industry for building plastic-fabricated truck bodies and fire truck tanks that look great and never fail. QTAC has built its business on repeat customers who value quality and the care with which each product is built. A wildland fire truck is subjected to some of the most rigorous off-road challenges any vehicle will ever face, and we have honed the design and manufacturing processes that enable our trucks and tanks to withstand wildland use year after year.

This is PolyTough™, the way in which we design, cut, prepare and weld every seam. Whether we’re building a UTV skid, a slip-on or a complete fire truck, we use the same philosophy to ensure that the product you receive will look and perform better than you could have ever expected, and will give you years of trouble-free service.

QTAC Fire About Our Philosophy
QTAC Fire About Our Materials for our Builds

The Materials

ATVs, Side X Side UTVs and mid-size trucks all have limited payload carrying capabilities, so weight is a huge factor. When a system needs to be lightweight, ultra-durable and non-corrosive, there is no better material for the job than our PolyTough™ construction. We use a blended polypropylene resistant to extreme temperatures, and it is nearly impossible to dent or crack, meaning your system will be ready to perform when you are.

The Build

Each QTAC begins as 3D computer model, where all the components are fitted virtually before ever becoming a reality on the shop floor. Once designed, the QTAC tanks and bodies are cut to exact tolerances on a Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machining center. From there, our skilled team of fabricators goes to work, using proven plastic welding technology perfected over the past 20 years. Our tanks aren’t molded—they are several pieces of plastic welded together, forming an incredibly strong—yet lightweight—product. And every tank features an NFPA-compliant internal baffling structure to reduce water weight transfer while on the go. After the tank is complete, the QTAC moves into assembly, where the pump, fittings and graphics are mounted and applied before final Quality Assurance testing. Whether it’s a 20-gallon system for an ATV or a 500 gallon full Type 3 fire truck, when it leaves our facility, it leaves ready to be put to work.
