We generally recommend the higher capacity RTV series for fire and rescue work, focusing on models with strong bed ratings and steel beds. These platforms provide the support needed for a fully loaded QTAC skid while still allowing you to add tools or gear within the published limits.
Kubota RTVs prioritize utility. Steel beds hold up well to repeated loading, and diesel power plants provide reliable torque for moving a fully loaded skid at safe operating speeds. The overall design suits situations where steady, controlled movement is more important than top speed.
The most common comment we hear from users is that RTVs are not quick to accelerate, especially under load. For fire and rescue work, this is usually acceptable and can even be an advantage, since aggressive driving with a loaded skid and water tank is not recommended. Operators should simply understand that these machines are utility-focused, not sport-oriented.
