Search and rescue operations demand vehicles that can move people and equipment efficiently while supporting extended operations on scene. The QTAC SUPER SAR™ is built with that purpose in mind.
This SUPER SAR™ is built for the San Mateo County Sheriff Search and Rescue team, supporting law enforcement-led SAR operations that require organized equipment storage, onboard power, and reliable scene support in varied terrain and conditions.
Designed as a crew and equipment transport platform, the SUPER SAR™ combines storage capacity, onboard power, and scene lighting into a single truck platform suitable for search and rescue and law enforcement agencies operating in rural, urban, and off-road environments.
This SUPER SAR™ is built on an 84-inch cab-to-axle (CA) chassis, providing increased compartment length compared to the standard 60-inch CA configuration. The additional space allows for larger front and rear compartments, extended pull-out trays, and improved storage for items such as Stokes baskets, rescue equipment, and support gear.

The layout prioritizes accessibility and organization, allowing crews to quickly locate and deploy equipment during time-sensitive operations without sacrificing mobility or access.
This truck features QTAC’s first installation of the LiquidSpring suspension system. The system allows the ride height of the vehicle to be raised or lowered based on terrain and operating conditions, improving stability, ride quality, and control both on and off road.

A super single conversion with Continental 41-inch tires mounted on Buckstop aluminum wheels provides additional ground clearance and traction. An onboard air compressor connection allows tire pressures to be adjusted in the field as conditions change.
To improve ease of entry and exit, the SUPER SAR™ is equipped with AMP retractable steps, maintaining a clean profile while providing reliable access and ground clearance.
Exterior equipment includes:
These features support vehicle recovery and off-road operations commonly encountered during search and rescue responses.
The SUPER SAR™ uses a comprehensive Whelen lighting package, including a Liberty light bar and scene lighting positioned around the vehicle. Additional rear lighting, traffic advisor functions, and down lighting improve visibility and safety during nighttime or low-visibility operations.
A telescoping scene light with 360-degree swivel capability provides adjustable illumination for work areas around the truck.

ROM aluminum roll-up doors provide access to multiple compartments with adjustable shelving and heavy-duty pull-out trays. These compartments support a wide range of rescue and support equipment while maintaining durability and weather resistance.
Onboard power includes multiple 110-volt outlets, inverter capacity, and battery storage. A roof-mounted solar system ties into the recharge system to support extended operations where shore power is unavailable.
The truck also includes Starlink connectivity and onboard display capability, allowing teams to support mapping, communications, and drone operations directly from the vehicle.
Active cabinet ventilation pulls air through the compartments to help keep equipment dry and reduce moisture buildup.
The SUPER SAR™ body is built using PolyTough™ construction, providing several operational advantages:
This construction method improves long-term durability while reducing strain on the vehicle.
The QTAC SUPER SAR™ is designed for law enforcement and search and rescue teams that need dependable transport, organized equipment storage, and onboard support systems in demanding environments.
